The results of the 2017 general election were announced this month and the bookies (who confidently predicted a Conservative win) got it wrong again. Rather than waking up with a clear winner, the nation woke to news of a hung parliament and the feeling of uncertainty immediately before the Brexit negotiations, in terms of who will form a Government and who will be Prime Minister.
Even though we know that it will be a Conservative government backed by the DUP, it is too early to say what this means for the temporary labour market but significantly the Conservative party have confirmed that the results of the Taylor review will be considered in determining how contractors will be treated and taxed going forward. We will continue to work with trade bodies such as APSCO, the FCSA and Prism to ensure that the Government are educated on the benefits of the temporary labour market.
As with the rest of the country, we'll be watching closely as to what happens in the coming months so as always we will keep you up to date with what that means for our sector.
